Centenary winery founded in 1877 by Don Miguel Martínez Berberana in the town of Ollauri, right in the heart of the Rioja Denomination of Origin.

The 1973 harvest was rated as good in Rioja, and over the years it has become clear that Rioja wines from that vintage have evolved remarkably well. Today, it is a highly sought-after vintage among wine enthusiasts and professionals.

This 1973 Berberana spent 12 months in large old wooden vats from the winery’s founding era, where malolactic fermentation finished and the wine stabilized before being racked. It was then aged for 36-42 months in American oak barrels. Once bottled, it remained for about 24 months in the winery’s cellars before release to the market.

These wines are true oenological treasures, representing an important legacy of tradition and craftsmanship of the Rioja Denomination of Origin. Berberana was one of the largest exporters of the era.

Bottle in acceptable preservation condition with fill level at the base of the neck. Label is marked and bottle has dust due to its age.
