Bodegas Carlos Serres is a century-old winery founded in 1896 and located in Haro (La Rioja). The winery is named after its founder, Carlos Serres. Originally from France, Carlos Serres settled in La Rioja in 1885, fleeing the phylloxera plague that devastated French vineyards. From its beginnings, it has had an export-oriented vision and was one of the leading names in taking Rioja to different countries; indeed, it was the first winery registered as an exporter.

Today, the owners of the winery are the Vivanco family, who continue the legacy of Carlos Serres.

Carlomagno is the star wine of Bodegas Carlos Serres. The 1975 vintage spent 36 months in American oak barrels and 30 months ageing in the bottle. It is a blend of 65% Tempranillo, 25% Graciano, and 10% Mazuelo.
