La Rioja Alta SA is one of the oldest wineries in Rioja. Founded in the 19th century, specifically in 1890, it is one of the most historic and prestigious wineries in the Spanish wine industry. Its brands are synonymous with outstanding quality. The winery has been a pioneer in the production of fine wines for more than 125 years. Among its flagship wines are Gran Reserva 904 and Gran Reserva 890. Other notable labels from the winery include Viña Arana, Viña Ardanza, and Viña Alberdi.

The 1981 vintage was rated as Good by the DOCa Rioja regulatory body.

This wine is a blend of 90% Tempranillo from vineyards over 60 years old and 10% Graciano. The wine was aged for four years in the winery's own oak barrels.

The bottle is in good condition. The wine level is in the upper shoulder. The bottle has been stored in a wine cellar under controlled temperature conditions.
