Bodegas Protos is a Spanish winery located at the foot of the Peñafiel Castle in the province of Valladolid. Its name comes from the Greek word meaning “First,” as it was the first winery founded in the Ribera del Duero region. The winery was established on 29 March 1927 through the partnership of eleven local winegrowers and entrepreneurs from Peñafiel.

This Gran Reserva is made from 100% Tinta del País (Tempranillo) grapes and is aged for a minimum of 24 months in French and American oak barrels, followed by at least 36 months in bottle before being released to the market. These wines are known for being powerful and well-structured, with grapes sourced from small vineyard plots with low yields.
