Quinta do Vesuvio is one of the most legendary estates in Portugal’s Douro Valley region. It is renowned worldwide for the exceptional quality of its Vintage Port wines. Records of the estate date back to 1565 (when it was known as Quinta das Figueiras), but formal wine production began in 1823 under the vision of Antonio Bernardo Ferreira. After his death, his widow, Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, drove the estate’s growth and development. In 1989, the prestigious Symington family, of British and Portuguese origin (Symington Family Estates), acquired the estate, restoring and consolidating its elite status.
