La Rioja Alta S.A. is one of the oldest wineries in Rioja. Founded in 1890, it is among the most historic and prestigious wineries in the Spanish wine industry. Its brands are synonymous with outstanding quality. The winery has been a pioneer in the production of fine wines for more than 125 years. Its most renowned labels include Gran Reserva 904 and Gran Reserva 890. Other notable wines from the winery include Viña Arana, Viña Ardanza, and Viña Alberdi.

Due to the exceptional 2010 vintage, La Rioja Alta granted its Viña Ardanza the status of Selección Especial, an honor previously awarded only to the 1964, 1973, and 2001 vintages.
