Bodegas Rafael López de Heredia Viña Tondonia was founded in 1877 in Haro by Don Rafael López de Heredia. This historic winery represents the purest classic tradition of the Rioja Denomination of Origin. From the beginning, it has been a family estate, currently managed by the fourth generation, represented by the three López Heredia Montoya siblings (María José, Mercedes, and Julio). Bodegas López de Heredia uses grapes grown in its own vineyard, acquired by the founder’s great-grandfather. True to tradition, they are committed to artisanal winemaking, fermenting in wooden vats, manual racking, and very long aging periods in barrel and bottle. López de Heredia makes its own barrels by hand, being the only winery in Spain with its own cooperage workshop. Their reds, whites, and even rosés are recognized for their extraordinary longevity. Without a doubt, the wines of López de Heredia are highly valued, coveted, and considered essential in the cellar of any wine enthusiast or professional.

The 2001 vintage was declared excellent in Rioja.
