La Rioja Alta S.A. is one of the oldest wineries in Rioja. Founded in the 19th century, specifically in 1890, it is one of the most historic and prestigious wineries in the Spanish wine world. Its brands are synonymous with high quality. The winery has been a pioneer in the production of fine wines for over 125 years. Among its range, the ‘Gran Reserva 904’ and the ‘Gran Reserva 890’ stand out. Other notable brands from the winery include Viña Arana, Viña Ardanza, and Viña Alberdi.

The 1964 vintage in Rioja has mythical, legendary status, regarded as one of the best in history and highly sought after by all Rioja enthusiasts.

The 1964 vintage was released to the market in December1971. Fermentation was carried out in large-capacity vats (foudres), where it remained for 12 months. It was then transferred to oak barrels and aged for 72 months; during this period, it underwent a total of nine rackings before being bottled. It is a blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Graciano and 10% Viura.
