La Rioja Alta S.A. is one of the oldest wineries in Rioja. Founded in the 19th century, specifically in 1890, it is among the most historic and prestigious names in the Spanish wine world. Its brands are synonymous with high quality. A pioneering winery in the production of fine wines for more than 125 years. Among its range, the 'Gran Reserva 904' and 'Gran Reserva 890' stand out. Other notable brands from the winery include Viña Arana, Viña Ardanza, and Viña Alberdi.

Viña Ardanza Reserva 2009 is composed of 80% Tempranillo from the Las Monjas and Montecillo vineyards and 20% Garnacha from Rioja Oriental. The Tempranillo is aged for 36 months in American oak, and the Garnacha for 30 months. The final blending and bottling took place in May 2014.
