Bodegas Rafael López de Heredia Viña Tondonia was founded in 1877 in Haro by Don Rafael López de Heredia. This century-old winery embodies the purest classical tradition of the Rioja Designation of Origin. Family-run since its inception, it is currently managed by the fourth generation, represented by the three López Heredia Montoya siblings (María José, Mercedes, and Julio). Bodegas López de Heredia uses grapes from its own vineyard, acquired by their great-grandfather. Staying true to tradition, they favour artisanal methods, fermentations in wooden vats, manual rackings, and very lengthy ageing periods in both barrel and bottle. López de Heredia crafts its own barrels by hand, making it the only winery in Spain with its own cooperage workshop. Their red, white and even rosé wines have exceptional ageing potential for many years. Without a doubt, the wines of López de Heredia are highly valued and sought after, and are a must-have in the cellar of any wine enthusiast or professional.

Viña Tondonia Reserva White is made from Viura and Malvasía grapes, and aged for a lengthy six years in oak barrels crafted by the winery itself, undergoing two rackings per year. It is bottled unfiltered and left to rest in the cellars before being released to market.
