La Rioja Alta SA is one of the oldest wineries in La Rioja. Founded in the 19th century, specifically in 1890, it is one of the most historic and prestigious wineries in the Spanish wine world. Its brands are synonymous with exceptional quality. A pioneering winery in the production of fine wines for over 125 years, its portfolio includes the Gran Reserva 904 and Gran Reserva 890. Other notable brands from the winery include Viña Arana, Viña Ardanza, and Viña Alberdi.

The 2005 harvest was declared excellent.

It is a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano from vineyards over 40 years old in the Briñas, Labastida and Villalba areas.

The 2005 harvest was bottled in November 2010.
