La Rioja Alta S.A. is one of the oldest wineries in La Rioja. Founded in the 19th century, specifically in 1890, it is one of the most historic and prestigious wineries in the Spanish wine world. Its brands are synonymous with high quality. A pioneering winery in the production of fine wines for more than 125 years. Among its range, the 'Gran Reserva 904' and 'Gran Reserva 890' stand out. Other notable brands from the winery include Viña Arana, Viña Ardanza, and Viña Alberdi.

The 1973 vintage was classified by the DOCa as normal. Over the years, it has been shown that the wines from 1973 have aged phenomenally, and many enthusiasts and collectors view the 1973 vintage very favorably.
